Moving Towards Chinese Medicine For Health Issues

MIKE SELVON asked:

“There are four basic foundations of achieving and maintaining good health. These are diet, exercise, adequate rest and relaxation, and a good mental attitude,” writes Bob Flaws, author of over two-dozen books on Chinese medicine.

In traditional Western medicine, everything must be tangible and calculable, which is why some scholars are hesitant to delve into more philosophical, cosmic realms with Chinese alternative medicines and therapies. But in this era, there has been a sudden interest in yoga and Buddhism as an alternate, natural approach to pain relief that has some Western scientists baffled.

Acupuncture treatment: “I would go to a hospital for an emergency, but for pain, there is nothing better than acupuncture,” states Dr. Teri Powers, dean of the Los Angeles Samra University of Oriental Medicine. Some people feel nervous when they think of long filiform needles being plunged into certain “acupuncture points” on the body to relieve pain.

However, many patients compare the feeling of acupuncture to the natural high from exercising. While the needles don’t hurt going in, they say, there is some activity that can be felt around the entry-point, whether it’s Qi energy, as Chinese medicine acupuncture teaches, or the body’s natural endorphins. This may feel strange at first, but most visitors feel better than ever, prompting them to return for more treatments.

Chinese herbology has been used for centuries, with some manuscripts, such as “Recipes for 52 Ailments” dating as far back as 168 BC. The Han, Tang and Ming dynasties all have treatises on Chinese medicine that have become the foundation of modern day traditions.

One of the most popular herbal remedies is echinacea, which sells like crazy during flu season. Another herbal medicine gingko biloba is said to naturally help the memory of elderly people. Other everyday herbs like ginger (reduces nausea), mint (aids digestion) or chamomile (helps sleep) are commonly used.

Some Americans find it hard to believe that activities like massage and yoga are included in traditional Chinese medicine. These practices have been proven to improve circulation and flexibility, while simultaneously reducing stress and providing an overall feeling of well-being.

Yoga has long been touted as the “toning, weight loss secret of the stars.” Now women are using it to stave off baby weight gain and balance emotions during pregnancy. More business men are running down to get Chinese massages on their lunch breaks to find their center too. If for no other reason, Chinese alternative medicine is catching on in America because it simply feels good.

Scott Soloff asked:

Have you looked in the mirror recently? Did it occur to you that your waist isn’t as trim or toned as it use to be? Are you finding it difficult to diet? Is your New Year’s resolution to start an exercise program, again?

Be Natural With A Herbal Fat Burner

Today there are many firms that sell their own brand of fat burner. Medical fat burners often result in unpleasant side effects. Some of these side effects include hyper-tension, a racing heart or even passing out. What you need is a natural, herbal solution to your weight problem.

An herbal fat burner may be just what you need. Herbal fat burners are the natural way to assist your body in losing weight. It’s important to know that herbal fat burners don’t have any serious side effects.

Herbal fat burners are a tried and true method to produce results with your weight loss program. Some natural fat burners have been around for hundreds of years.

Herbs and roots have been used medicinally by the Chinese for thousands of years. Their system of treatment was developed and perfected long before the advent of modern medicine.

Herbal fat burners have been used for long periods of time without any serious side effects. In some instances, mild effects do occur. They include sweating, sleeplessness, or constipation. The remedy for these side effects is merely to cut your dosage in half.

Different Types Of Herbal Fat Burner

Herbal fat burners come in different varieties. The most common is pill form. This is usually a gel capsule and is easily digestible.

Another variety is sublingual. This is taken under the tongue. This type of fat burner is usually a tincture. The herbs are mixed with a carrier and is delivered directly into the blood stream. This type of fat burner can be very effective, but it is inconvenient and doesn’t taste so good.

The third type of herbal fat burner is topical. This type is applied directly to the skin. It attempts to break the fatty tissue down directly. This application has limited success.

It is important to remember that if you have a medical condition and/or are being treated by a doctor that you should consult with your physician first. With all of these different options for an herbal fat burner, it is very likely that there is one that is suited for you.

Green Tea Benefits, Weight Loss Tea and Green Tea Diet

January 30th, 2009

Alien asked:

You might want to consider replacing your Green Eggs and Ham with Green Tea and Ham the next time you break your fast in the morning – or any other time, for that matter. It appears that a green tea diet may hold at least a few properties of those golden elixirs, fountains of youth, and magic potions we’ve all heard about over the years.

Green tea is recommended for the diet aid mainly because of its multifaceted effects on health. The major active component that attributes the properties to the green tea are the polyphenols such as catechin, epicatechin, epicatechin gallate, gallaogatechin, epigallocatechin, and apigallocatechin gallate (known as EGCG).

Green tea diet – Medical Claims

In Thailand, India, Japan and China, green tea has been used as a medicine for a variety of conditions from helping with digestion to healing wounds.

But while many in the medical field proclaim the wonders of this much talked about tea, others are quick to point out that there is little or no evidence to support at least some of the claims.

Green Tea Diet Oprah

You may have heard about the now famous episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show, where Dr. Nicholas Perricone informed an amazed audience that viewers could lose 10 pounds in 6 weeks by drinking green tea instead of coffee.

Demonstrating the power of television and perhaps Oprah Winfrey’s celebrity, this episode did a lot to set the popularity of the green tea diet in motion here in the United States.

But way before Dr. Perricone was trumpeting the weight loss potential of green tea on national television, a priest by the name of Eisai rote the 1191 best seller, “The Book of Tea” where drinking green tea was credited with being good for the heart and several other major body organs.

While it’s certainly true that Americans are quick to jump on the band wagon when it comes to fads and super quick when it comes to the latest diet, there is something very different when it comes to the subject of green tea.

This diet started around 5,000 years ago in the far eastern part of the world.

The Green Tea Diet (while perhaps not in the form of an actual, planned diet) is a regular part of everyday life in China, Japan, the Middle East, Pakistan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Morocco just to name a few. In many places it’s a daily ritual.

Here in the United States a number of studies have reported positive effects when it comes to this tea.

A study by Case Western University School of Medicine said that antioxidants in green tea may prevent and reduce the severity of rheumatoid arthritis.

The Journal of the American College of Surgeons said green tea may prevent the oxidation of the bad cholesterol LDL, which can reduce the build-up of arterial plaque.

There was even a study in Germany that found an extract of green tea combined with filtered hot water could be applied externally to help people whose skin had been damaged by radiation therapy.

Tea as a weight loss aide

Tea has been used as an aid for weight loss. Drinking a cup of tea with each meal is a protocol for using tea successfully as a metabolic stimulant. Tea by itself carries only 4 calories per serving, and it’s most healthy when consumed with nothing added. The caffeine in tea increases body function to help burn more calories and the polyphenols seem to aid in the digestion of fat, truly making it a Chinese diet tea.. Pu-erh and Oolong teas have received the most attention regarding weight loss, but all types of tea offer a low calorie alternative to commercial beverages.

How much green tea is right for you?

That depends upon who you listen to. Some Chinese homeopathic health practitioners call for 10 cups a day, while some health researchers say that 2 to 3 cups will do the trick. When you look at all of the varying research, and take the average, 4 to 5 eight ounce cups of green tea per day should be good enough for most people.

If you don’t like drinking green tea, or find the process of brewing green tea to be more that you are willing to go through 4 to 5 times per day, there are companies who produce “Green Tea Capsules” which contain doses of EGCG.

It’s been said that anything that doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Since no one has found any instances of “death by green tea”, it certainly can’t do you any harm (and it just might do you some good), to introduce green tea into your life.

Wu Yi Tea – Is it Another Weight Loss Scam?

January 30th, 2009

Dennis Eisenhower asked:

Are you one of the many overweight people who have been trying out every method available under the sun to try and lose the excess pounds that you have put on but never been successful? There are many reasons why people who try all kinds of weight loss methods fail. They may either tend to overeat or not stick with a routine or just become depressed and eat more. Weight loss programs and products are a huge industry by itself and there are just too many products available of which many are just fakes with no value add to help you lose weight. But, there are some good products available too and one such is the Wu Yi diet tea.

So, what makes Wu Yi tea so special and does it really help in bringing about weight loss or is it one of the many fake products that are available in the market. Wu Yi tea is a semi oxidized type of green tea that is often referred to as Oolong tea and has been a part of Chinese medicine to help people lose weight for as long as four hundred years now. This time tested Wu Yi weight loss tea being totally natural makes it an attractive option for people attempting weight loss as they do not have to develop a daily routine of taking pills or following any fad diets. All they need to do is to source authentic Wu Yi tea and consume it as prescribed regularly and soon they will be able to see the weight reduction change that they never thought was possible.

Authentic Wu Yi tea is that tea that has been sourced from the Wu Yi Mountains in the Fuji Province and is one of the types of oolong tea that is available. But, consumers should be aware that there are many Wu Yi Tea scams where people claim some tea to be authentic Wu Yi tea although it might not be so. If people consume such tea, it is possible that there will hardly see any weight loss effects that authentic tea can help bring.

When Wu Yi tea is consumed regularly and a proper diet regime along with exercise is followed, it has helped many people shed those unnecessary pounds and regain back their original slim figure and their lost confidence. Apart from weight reduction, consumption of the tea has also helped people get overall improvements to their health and wellbeing along with boosts to their immune status. Many users have also claimed that they have seen improvements to their skin from the regular use of the tea.

The recommended intake of Wu Yi tea everyday is two cups in a day. When the person begins to take it regularly, they will begin to see weight loss changes from the very first week although it might take about three to four weeks to see observable changes to your body. Being natural and totally organic, there are no recorded Wu Yi tea side effects.

Weight loss is now as simple as consuming a few cups of Wu Yi tea in a day while following some diet restrictions and developing a simple exercise routine. So, now there is no need for you to get desperate, depressed or frustrated about your excess weight. All you need to do is to get your authentic Wu Yi tea and begin consuming it regularly and see the changes for yourself.

Weight Control With Hypnosis

January 27th, 2009

Nancy Ho asked:

Today our lives are sedentary; we sit at our desks to do our work, mostly. We don’t need to consume as much energy so we don’t need to eat as much. We were meant to be active and exert our bodies to consume the energy from our food.

We have to remember that, in terms of evolution’s time-scale, we are a recent event. We have created an environment for ourselves which, to a very large extent, is unnatural for us. So our bodies have not had the time to naturally cope with the changed conditions.

Being Over-weight

Over-weight people store an amount of fat which is not necessary for survival. Being over-weight is not necessarily being obese, but obesity is an extreme case of being over-weight. As we age, we tend to eat the same amount of food that we ate when we were more active, and we are also less able to do the same activities. This produces the weight gain that most adults see when they age every ten years.

The amount of over-weightness can be measured by the Body Mass Index (BMI). This number basically tells us if we have just enough fat to be healthy or if we have too much excess fat. A normal or healthy range for your BMI should be 18.5 to 25.

Someone who is over-weight tends to have a BMI in the range 25 to 30. An obese person has a very high BMI, usually above 30. Anything above 40 is dangerously high and the person runs the risk of premature death.

Some people may have a fat gene which predisposes them to store more fat than others. However, having a gene does not excuse a person from poor eating habits. People who are overweight tend to have poor eating habits, such as irregular meals, undisciplined fasting. These patterns of eating were never meant to be imposed on our bodies. Such people also tend to neglect exercise.

The Health Risks

As countries become more affluent the incidence of obesity and over-weight people has increased, and this is not without its risks. Some of the increased health risks associated with being over-weight are:

heart disease type 2 diabetes back trouble joint problems osteo-arthritis premature death a higher incidence of cancer skin problems (such as stretched skin and scars)

and the list goes on.

Exercise

When we exercise our bodies produce and strengthen muscle tissue. The overall result of exercise is that we feel better, healthier and stronger. This feeling occurs not just in the mind; it is an actual physical consequence of exercise. It is a well-known fact that exercise causes the body to produce the feel-good endorphins, which are directly related to weight control. Higher levels of endorphins in our bodies actually reduce our craving for sugar.

Perhaps the most important benefit we get out of exercise is a healthier heart. A healthier and stronger heart is more efficient and makes better use of oxygen. People with stronger than average hearts are more likely to survive major surgery or falling into freezing waters.

A person who exercises regularly and naturally controls her weight. Her body immediately burns whatever calories she has eaten recently, but also burns fat for sometime after the exercise stops. Such a person cannot get fat if she eats a healthy balanced diet.

Weight Control

When we want to control our weight what we really want to see is ourselves slim, healthy, agile and active as we once were. To achieve that vision we will have to burning up the energy stored in the excess fat on our body. However, we need to control weight carefully and with insight. We can’t just stop eating or radically reduce our sugar and starch intake because we can’t burn fat as readily. We also can’t reduce the necessary vitamins, minerals, enzymes and so on that are so essential to re-generating our body without causing harm to our bodies.

There are many effective supplements that can aid weight loss, but some of these have side effects which are harmful to health. For instance, Ma Huang has been used for a long time in Chinese herbal medicine to aid slimming, but its abuse led to being withdrawn on markets. When taken excessively Ma Huang causes palpitations because it contains ephedrine. Other miracle supplements include a compound called hydrocitric acid (HCA) which reduces appetite and increases fat burning.

No magic pill can cause our bodies to always burn up the fat we don’t want. Supplements can aid weight control but they cannot replace the need for proper diet and exercise. Weight can only be controlled safely and effectively through a long term diet and exercise plan, but it takes great effort and discipline because we have to contend with the incessant chatter in our minds.

Permanent weight control requires us to change our eating habits and our reaction to foods. When we trade away our health for the convenience of snacks, quick sugar fixes and so on, we are bringing ourselves closer to major illness. It takes a lot to control what we eat when we have been habitually sloppy with what we eat.

The biggest obstacle to successful weight control is the emotions we attach to food. We derive great pleasure out of what we eat, and there is no stopping a person from going back to eating fattening foods even if she succeeds in reducing weight.

Set Your Weight Management Goals

Before you achieve any measure of success in weight management you have to set your goals, and all you need are three goals, which are to have and maintain:

a proper healthy diet a regular exercise plan a target weight to maintain

You should aim at eating healthy food at regular meals throughout the day, exercising regularly and achieving your desired target weight. Plan your daily regimen, and then go and do it. To aid you’re your execution there are a couple of ways you can do this – self-affirmations and hypnotherapy.

Self-affirmations require some time for you to “get into the groove”, and it does take a lot of will-power and effort to make it work. That is mainly due to the fact that it is taking place at the conscious which has that filtering analysing effect. Most of the affirmations will end up hitting a brick wall due to this behaviour of the mind.

Hypnotherapy and Weight Control

A more effective approach to weight control is through Hypnotherapy. Permanent changes are needed in your attitudes and mindset, which can only take place in the sub-conscious where our emotions lie. This is why Hypnotherapy is a very effect aid to weight control.

Before we begin to use Hypnotherapy we need to have our three goals clearly laid out before us. We should see ourselves achieving these three goals and then program this into our sub-conscious. There are self-hypnosis weight control audios and CDs on sale on the Internet that can be effective, and you can try them out.

Or you could consult a qualified Hypnotherapist and discuss you weight control goals, and get her to help you through Hypnotherapy. If you are open to Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy you can achieve very good results by working with a Hypnotherapist. Classifying The Types Of Alternative Medicine

January 27th, 2009

Shaun Parker asked:

Alternative medicine can be defined as any form of therapy, practice or treatment which is outside the mainstream or beyond the realm of the conventional.

More generally it can be defined as any approach or medicine which differs from conventional Western forms. Alternative medicine is often talked about in conjunction with Complementary Therapy and the umbrella term Complementary & Alternative Medicine or CAM is used.

As a general guide some of the more mainstream CAMs are acupuncture, acupuncture, aromatherapy, herbal medicine, homoeopathy, hypnotherapy, massage therapy, naturopathy, reiki, reflexology & Yoga.

Alternative medicine in the UK is growing year on year and in 2006 it generated expenditure of 1.6 billion pounds. Large numbers of people choose to seek out alternative forms of medicine subsequent to a diagnosis from their GP or other traditional route. However in the main, research shows that people tend to use CAMs in parallel with conventional medicine. There is often resistance from GPs to recommend or refer a patient to an alternative therapy where they consider empirical evidence to be limited or non-conclusive and the research methods are not always standardised as with traditional medicine. There are also often funding issues relating to onward referrals within the NHS.

However, the CAM sector is responding to this criticism by adopting the standard research methods & evidence provision in line with the medical establishments traditional methods. This is largely assisting with the rapid growth of this multi-layered industry, alongside the continually growing wealth of positive empirical evidence.

Generally speaking CAM’s can be organised into five key areas, although it should be noted that there are number of areas where these overlap. These areas are -

Whole Medical Systems (WMS)

WHMS have been developed in the West – often with it roots in other medicine systems. Examples of this type of system are Naturopathy – helping or stimulating the body’s own in-built healing system by improving diet & lifestyle in conjunction with other CAMs such as acupuncture and massage. A good non Western parallel to this system is Chinese Medicine as is Ayurveda which hails from India and takes the holistic approach of treating the mind body & spirit via massage, yoga, herbs & meditation.

Another WMS which developed in recent years in the West is Homeopathy the practice of stimulating the healing system of the body by delivering minute amounts of certain elements or substances which in much higher doses would be detrimental or dangerous to a patient’s health.

Mind-Body Medicine (MBM)

MBM can call upon a number of techniques which are aimed at improving the symptoms & functions of the body e.g. meditation, Yoga etc. A number of therapies which historically where thought to be CAMs are now firmly placed in the mainstream such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming).

Biologically Based Practices (BBP)

BBP are derived from elements and materials which are found naturally such as vitamins for supplements, healthy foods for well being & detoxification and herbs helping with everything from pain relief to stress & weight loss. Biologically based practices in CAM use substances found in nature, such as herbs, foods, and vitamins. Some examples include dietary supplements, herbal products, and the use of other so-called natural but as yet scientifically unproven therapies (for example, using shark cartilage to treat cancer).

Manipulative and Body-Based Practices (MBBP)

MBBP work by manipulation, pressure and rubbing of soft tissues and muscles aimed at promoting repair, better health & flexibility. These type of therapy work by removing scar tissue, promoting oxygen flow and helping the removal of toxins and acids.

A number are further examples of therapies which are becoming less and less alternative and more mainstream. These include Chiropractic, Osteopathy, Massage & other body work such as Shiatsu and Sports Massage.

Energy Medicine Therapies (EMT)

EMT are believed to help the patient by tapping into the energy fields which cloak the human body and restoring balance, improving energy flow and clearing blockages. Examples of these type of therapies are Reiki, Chinese Medicine and Energy Healing.

So, why the growth in CAMs? Well, in recent years patients have gradually taken more accountability & responsibility for their health and are not as happy as maybe they once were to be told what to do or how to live. As a result they are becoming more autonomous and seeking out their own alternatives and solutions.

It is important to note they don’t side step mainstream traditional medicine but seek help from CAMs to complement their treatment. Part of the reason for this empowerment is the growth of the internet and the ease of access to swathes of information, research, forums and feedback available at a click on the World Wide Web. Recent research has shown that over 60% of internet users use the web to provide answers on health related issues.

In addition to the ground swell of the general public embracing CAMs, areas of traditional medicine are adopting and recommending alternative therapies. The NHS now has as 5 hospitals offering CAMs for patients and more and more health professionals such as doctors, nurses and mid wives are training in alternative therapies to offer within their mainstream practice.

Conventional or Alternative Medicine is not Enough: Go Green

January 27th, 2009

Maria Locsin L. Ac asked:

Whether you are strictly a proponent of Conventional medicine or a combination of both Alternative and Conventional to cure your health problem, it does not make sense if you have harmful habits.  One must not smoke, drink, or do drugs. One must manage one’s stress, exercise moderately, and, most importantly one must eat well ~ food is your medicine.

Components of the Greens Diet

When asked, the type of diet or healthy eating practice I preach is a diet I call “The Greens Diet”. I actually stumbled on it at a Overeater’s Anonymous meeting.   It consists of:

12oz of protein (chicken, fish preferably salmon)

1 fruit per day (at least)

20 oz of Green leafy vegetables:

Beet tops (red and green leaves)

  Kale

  Spinach

  Collard Greens

  Swiss Chard

  Mustard greens

Other vegetables include: Turnips, Parsnips, Jicama, Green beans, Summer and Winter squashes

I tell my friends, my family, and, my patients, at a minimum to incorporate features of the Greens Diet into their diet, if not replace their diets completely.  The green vegetables I recommend above are the leafy and cruciferous kind. Fresh is always best but if a particular vegetable is not in season, by all means, there’s plenty in the freezer section of your local supermarket.  If the choice is between frozen or none at all, I would go with frozen.

Benefits of Greens

The benefits of green leafy vegetables are endless.  Kale’s constituents primarily include: Vitamin K, A, C, and manganese.  It is also rich in dietary fiber, calcium, potassium, iron, and magnesium. Some studies list that Kale helps prevent cancer, it’s nutrients neutralize potentially carcinogenic substances.  The International Journal of  Cancer lists that those who consume kale and other cruciferous vegetables have a lower incidence of lung, colon, breast, and ovarian cancers.

Spinach, like Kale is another vegetable rich in Vitamins K, A, C, B6, E, folate, manganese, iron, and potassium.  Spinach helps protect against heart disease, arthritis, and, the type of cancer it helps protect against is that of the colon. Swiss Chard like Spinach and Kale is also rich in Vitamin K, A,C, E, and folate, manganese.  Research show that it helps with bone health and the type of cancer it protects against are in the digestive tract.  Because Swiss Chard is an excellent source of magnesium, so it helps regulate nerve and muscle tone by  balancing the action of calcium.  Insufficient magnesium can thus contribute to high blood pressure.   Like Kale, and Spinach, Swiss Chard is an excellent source of Vitamin C and E.  It has antioxidant powers that help battle free radicals that cause damage to cells.  Not having enough antioxidants in the body can result in inflammatory conditions like arthritis.  Vitamin C is also essential for immunity, excellent for the prevention of the common cold.

All the greens and squashes listed above are excellent sources of fiber and shown to reduce high cholesterol levels which in turn help prevent atherosclerosis.  It’s also been shown that fiber helps keep blood sugar levels low, therefore helpful to those with Type 2 Diabetes.   Including bulky greens, and, squashes  in one’s current diet gives one a sense of fullness and contributes to weight loss.  I’ve seen this in my senior patients.  Some of my patients tout 1-3 lb/week losses. Some of the vegetables above contain some protein, but this Greens Diet includes 12 oz. of protein a day and I recommend fish, and if possible, salmon.  Salmon is a great source of omega oils excellent for heart, brain, skin, and vital in the reduction of high levels of cholesterol.  These dark green leafy vegetables, and  squashes  are easily available in your neighborhood supermarkets. Remember to add yellow, and, green squashes.  Low in carbs, and, sugar, they add texture to your greens. The most common type of squashes are either summer or winter squash.  When selecting your squashes, the summer squash should be fairly heavy for its size, and, free from blemishes.  Winter squashes are usually sold immature.Remember, think dark green Leafy, and yellow. In the 5 Element theory of Chinese medicine, squashes which are basically yellow, represent Earth; the organ: the Pancreas.  In Chinese Medicine theory, it is the pancreas that transforms food and drink into qi (energy), and, blood.

You may blanch the greens, keeping them crunchy and tasty with your favorite salad dressing.  Remember that vinegar is an astringent, it holds in Lung Qi; the energy of breathing.  For frozen vegetables, check the instructions on the  package.  Remember not to overcook!  Feel free to garnish with nuts.  Squash is excellent baked or steamed.  Summer squashes can also be mashed and served with a little bit of butter or low-fat cream. Squashes can also be boiled before you toss in the greens cooking for an additional minute or two.  Spinach is great fresh.  Mix it with other salad greens.  I’m a fan of olive oil and vinegar as a dressing.

Patients Benefit from the Greens Diet

One of them let’s call Morris, a boy of 8 with ADHD.  His mother is a jewel of a woman with infinite patience, and, rationale.   Morris has everyone in the house inspired with how the Greens Diet has changed him.  He is calmer, and now can be still in order to listen.  “I want my daughter to have what you gave to Morris.  He is so much calmer, and, nicer,”  his classmate’s dad told Morris” mom.   Of course Morris’ mom and dad are on the program for weight loss, coz why not? They say.

My senior patient I will name Olivia, aged 70 came to Acupuncture because she had open heart surgery.  She was overweight, and worried about her heart.  She was sent to me by her cardiologist.  Olivia had a stroke, and open heart surgery.  A patient on blood thinners is not a candidate for herbal therapy.  She is kept on her conventional medicine protocol, and immediately put her on The Greens Diet.  The following week, Olivia happily reported that she lost 1 pound!  We were encouraged to continue,  balancing her coronary health, and diet.  Olivia is a good patient. She has an open mind, and, looks forward to alternative medicine complementing her HMO plan.  We were encouraged to continue, balancing her coronary health, with this Greens Diet and Acupuncture.

Another is a television actress we will call Gwen.  She is young, and, very talented.  Gwen needs to be clear of mind as she goes from one film set to another.  Gwen is a large woman of 5′9″ who thrives on the Greens Diet because it keeps her energetic, and she continues to fit well in her size 12 suits.  I am in my thirties, and, I feel fabulous~ “let’s take as many pictures of me now while I am young, and pretty!” she says.

An elderly lady we will call Rita has glaucoma.  She comes to Acupuncture, and, herbal therapy so that she can see better.  Acupuncture treatments always improve her vision.   In Chinese Medicine, Glaucoma is damp.  The Greens Diet drains damp, and cools the blood that is stored in the liver.  To help drain damp and tonify her pancreas, we replaced her soda pop habit  with fresh ginger juice and honey.   Her vision continues to improve with Acupuncture and a customized Chinese Herbal formulation.

Nancy is 49.  Recently diagnosed with type II diabetes, she came to my clinic seeking alternative medicine to support her decision to get better.  So focused was Nancy with her new diet, and, exercise regiment, that her numbers cleared up and balanced out rapidly.  In 6 weeks, her doctor was surprised with her recovery.  You are a model patient.  Would you be willing to speak in my coming Forum on Diabetes at the University next month?   Nancy’s recovery includes her will and determination to get better.  The Greens Diet easily manages diabetes.

Karena, 55, had surgery that incised the cancer she had in her breast.  She has Acupuncture to help her heal quickly.  I also put her on the Greens Diet to accelerate healing and to elevate, and, maintain her mood.

Conclusion:

My patients are intelligent people who think out of the box as they pursue living well, and staying healthy.  They are in tune with their bodies.  They believe the Greens Diet works.  It gives them the energy to be on the ball with their busy schedules, as they continue to excel in their lives.  Less costly and always safe to use, I recommend The Greens Diet also because I am a Doctor of Chinese medicine with knowledge of traditional and natural remedies immediately recognizing its value (or value of its ingredients). As listed in my success stories above, I have used it to help my patient’s battle diseases or it’s aftermath and emotional problems since 2001. I can proudly say that I do use the Greens Diet to fix whatever ails me or if I need to be on a manageable diet.

In the 5 element theory of Chinese Medicine, colors can help one remember internal organs that we nourish with food. Green (wood) is the liver, generating Red (fire) the heart, generating Yellow (earth), the pancreas,  which now generates White (metal),  the lungs, which in turn generates Black or Blue for (water), the kidneys.  One element generates the next.  I always remember to say that instead of meats which are acidic, try fish or seaweed from the ocean to nourish kidneys.  That fountain of Life is the kidney organ. When we breathe in, it’s our lower back that moves~ where the kidneys are; a breath out is the lungs.  In Chinese medicine, the liver is the General.  The liver holds blood in the body before that the heart circulates.  It assists the pancreas in digesting food.  It also creates energy directing the Lungs in its breathing function.   A breath out is from the lungs.  A breath taken in is when the body pulls up from the lower back, the area of the kidneys.  Whether currently being treated for cancer and most especially when recovering from cancer, we need to eat our greens and if possible organic green so that it is free of cancer-causing pesticides.  Food is medicine. We are what we eat.  Eat fresh, and eat organic.

Christy asked:
